MISSION

Our Mission at Crossway Community Church Milwaukee is

to make maturing followers of Jesus by the power of the gospel

God is on a mission to spread his glory by redeeming and renewing this world. And he has chosen to accomplish this plan of redemption and renewal in and through the local church. As a local church here in Milwaukee, we participate in this redemption and renewal by... making maturing followers of Jesus by the power of the gospel. As we carry out this mission as a church at CrossWay Community Church Milwaukee, we both gather and scatter. When we gather we are transformed by beholding God and building up one another. Then we scatter to be the church in the midst of the world. We give witness to the gospel by declaring and displaying it to those around us.

VALUES

Who We Are – CrossWay Community Church Milwaukee

At CrossWay Community Church in Milwaukee, we believe the local church is central to God’s mission of redemption and renewal in the world. We exist because God is actively at work—and He carries out His plan through His people, the Church.

Before we talk about what we do, we must understand why we do it:
God is on mission, and the Church is His chosen instrument to display and declare the gospel of Jesus Christ. This truth is what drives and defines everything we do.

Our Mission

Because of this calling, our mission is clear:

CrossWay Community Church Milwaukee exists to make maturing followers of Jesus by the power of the gospel.

This mission takes shape in two key rhythms of church life:

  • We Gather – to behold God in worship and build one another up in the gospel.

  • We Scatter – to display and declare the gospel in our everyday lives, reaching our families, neighborhoods, and city with the love of Jesus.

Our Culture – Who You’ll Become Here

At CrossWay, we believe every follower of Jesus is called to grow, stretch, and live in gospel-centered community. Here’s what that looks like:

  • Strengthened – Grounded in gospel truth, growing in the knowledge of God, and living from grace.

  • Stretched – Taking gospel risks, stepping out in faith, and encouraging others to do the same.

  • Family – Investing in each other, celebrating progress, and walking together in love and discipleship

BELIEFS

The Bible is the foundation for what CrossWay Community Church Milwaukee believes, and our highest authority for what is true and right. As we pursue living out and living into our mission, we strive to make scripture our guide in how to conduct ourselves as a church. We want to identify those things that cultivate a healthy church. But in short, we believe the Bible is God’s very Word to be believed and followed in all that we do. At the very center of the Bible’s message is the person of Jesus who died to save all those who put their trust in him.

For a full explanation of what we believe, see our statement of faith.

HISTORY

CrossWay Community Church Milwaukee held our first official Sunday morning service in Milwaukee in February 2008. The original planting team consisted primarily of a group of families from CrossWay Bristol with a united vision to see more gospel preaching churches in the city. For the first eight years we rented space in Pulaski High School (27th & Oklahoma) in Milwaukee on Sundays. In late 2016 we gathered weekly at St. Joseph Elementary School (16th & Oklahoma) in Milwaukee, until moving to our third location at Alverno College (43rd & Morgan) here on the south side of Milwaukee.  In April 2023 we we officially affiliated with the Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA) and remain an active participant of the EFCA Forest Lakes District.

We hope to find permanent space in Milwaukee one day, but until then we continue to navigate the challenges and advantages of renting space. And while we may have shifted locations in Milwaukee multiple times, our theology and desire to make maturing followers of Jesus by the power of the gospel, remains the same here at CrossWay Community Church Milwaukee.
