The Gospel and the Believer (Core Seminar) | Sun., July 30th - Aug 27th | 8:45 AM | Alverno
The gospel not only saves us from the wrath of God, but it is also meant to motivate us to love and good deeds (Titus 3:1-8). We believe it is an essential concept for every Christian to grasp and strive to walk in the good of. This seminar, taught by Dan, aims to equip us to make gospel connections in our everyday lives such that we are empowered toward living as God’s people.

Gospel-Shaped Cultural Engagement (Training Seminar) | Sundays in Sept. | 8:45 AM | Alverno
How should Christians faithfully engage our increasingly post-Christian culture? Join Kirk for this four-week training seminar and group discussion utilizing Russell Moore's book Onward: Engaging the Culture Without Losing the Gospel. The so-called "foolish" gospel would call us to embrace the “strangeness” of Christianity. Thus, the Christian mission has great potential precisely in a society where a Christian veneer of nominalism is now out of style. Attendees are encouraged to read or listen to the book (find the reading schedule here). But doing so is not required in order to participate.

The Freedom of Self-Forgetfulness by Timothy Keller (Book Recommendation)
Our culture elevates self-esteem and self-worth. But this results in anxiety and insecurity as it leaves us needing constant validation. Instead, Tim Keller points us to 1 Corinthians 4 to propose that true peace is actually found by shifting the focus away from ourselves, freeing us from the tyranny of self-concern. By understanding and embracing the gospel message, we are released from obsessing over our own successes, failures, and what others, or even what we ourselves, think of us.

Current Series - The Gospel According to Mark | The Unexpected King
According to Mark, Jesus is the coming King who is bringing God's kingdom. But the sort of King he is, and the sort of kingdom he brings, is quite unexpected. Jesus is a king who suffers and serves. And he calls his followers, the citizens of his kingdom, to do likewise—to walk in his way and carry their cross.
