Emptied, Now Exalted | Advent Series | December
This year for Advent we will explore the remarkable journey of Jesus as told in Philippians 2:5-11. Jesus emptied himself by becoming a human being for our sake to become exalted over all. This is a great series in which to invite unbelieving friends or family members. Invite cards with this year's theme are available at our Resource Table.

Thank you CrossWay family for your donation to Cru Boxes of Love! We were able to provide 41 families with Thanksgiving meals across the Milwaukee area. Let us prayer that through our donation the gospel may spread here in Milwaukee. Thank you for giving of your time and resources in this way!

Giving Opportunity for Andre and Carol Salviano
When Andre and Carol Salviano visited CrossWay in November, we learned that Andre is in need of a new laptop for school. The couple has also been having car issues but has not had the ability to set aside funds for this type of issue or other emergencies. If you would like to give in support of their training for the ministry and these necessities, you can find Andre on PayPal and Zelle through his email address (andrellersalviano@gmail.com) or on CashApp (username: AndreSalviano). If you have any questions or would like to give via another method, please see Annie Miller or Siobhan Heiss.

Instruction

Podcast on The Apostles Creed
CrossWay subscribes to what are commonly referred to as the Ecumenical Creeds: The Apostles' Creed, The Nicene Creed, The Athanasian Creed, and The Chalcedonian Definition. In addition, every few weeks, we recite The Apostles' Creed together as a church. To help us grow in our understanding and appreciation of these creeds, Kirk is currently producing a podcast series, interviewing scholars, on these Ecumenical Creeds.

In addition, after we finish the Gospel of Mark, our next sermon series will be on The Apostles' Creed. So consider checking out this first episode, with Dr. Michael Svigel, on The Apostles' Creed, as a way of preparing for our next sermon series!

The Theology of the EFCA | Podcast episode with Greg Strand
What does the Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA) believe? What are the theological convictions that unite this broad collection of churches? Kirk is joined by Greg Strand, executive director of theology and credentialing for the EFCA, to discuss and exposit the EFCA’s Statement of Faith. As we hope you’ll see, this Statement of Faith is an articulation of nothing less than the core elements of gospel itself.

Habits of Grace (Core Seminar) | Sun., Oct 29th-Dec 17th | 8:45 AM | Alverno
Spiritual disciplines are those habits such as prayer, meditation, and fasting through which God’s people aim to grow in godliness. For this Training Seminar, led by Kirk, we will read through Habits of Grace by David Mathis, and meet to discuss. Although reading the book is recommended (reading schedule can be found here), we welcome your attendance regardless. And you can get that book for free as either an eBook or Audiobook.

Marriage Cohort (Training Seminar) | 2nd Sunday of the Month | 3:30 - 5 PM
Marriage is one of God’s greatest gifts, but also one of life’s greatest challenges. Therefore, we want to encourage couples to pursue marriages that thrive by the power of the gospel for the glory of God. The “Marriage Cohort” Training Seminar meets every second Sunday from 3:30-5 PM. Childcare is available. A couple may join the cohort at any time, but they are encouraged to commit to a full twelve-cycle of sessions. Please note: homework is given; after all, marriage takes work! Please see Sam and Abby Park, or, Dan and Danica Allen for more details.

Getting to Know CrossWay (Membership Class) | Sundays in January | 8:45 AM | Alverno Classroom
At CrossWay, we believe it is the Biblical pattern and privilege for every believer to publicly join themselves to a local church. If you are not yet an official member of CrossWay, we would highly encourage you to attend this class to learn more about our church and what it means to become a member.

Book Recommendation | Athanasius’ On the Incarnation
This “must read” Christian classic is perfect reading for advent season. Writing in the 4th century, Athanasius, one of the greatest thinkers of the early church, argues why the Son of God became human (i.e., the incarnation) — namely to rescue us from our corruption and raise us to restoration with the risen Christ.

Current Series - The Gospel According to Mark | The Unexpected King
According to Mark, Jesus is the coming King who is bringing God's kingdom. But the sort of King he is, and the sort of kingdom he brings, is quite unexpected. Jesus is a king who suffers and serves. And he calls his followers, the citizens of his kingdom, to do likewise—to walk in his way and carry their cross.
